Snakelike
It creeps
Snakelike
It slithers
Snakelike
It settles
Under the skin

Kindness is lacking
Cruelty stalking 
Death in the making 
Before a child's eyes

Convenience store fragrance
Pine-Sol and coffee
Mingling
Dancing
With butcher shop smells
Describing a past
Defining a future
Explaining
The here and now

Propelled far away
Life sweet and pretty
Love and safety find you in its arms
